On Monday, July 29, a representative from Mayor Domenic J. Sarno's office delivered a proclamation to a press gathering at our Springfield location to declare it Dakin Day in Springfield. Communications Director Marian Sullivan presented the proclamation, which lauded Dakin for our work in promoting the bonds between pets and their people, to Director of Development and Marketing Stacey Price in front of several members of the media.
The proclamation also noted that Dakin is “honored to be told over the years by many clients how saving their pets’ lives has often helped save their own. The impact of their work can be felt in the City of Springfield, throughout the Pioneer Valley and beyond.”
Stacey accepted the proclamation and stated that Dakin is celebrating two significant anniversaries in 2019; the opening of our first shelter 50 years ago in 1969, and the expansion of our services into Springfield 10 years ago in 2009.
Dakin Day kicks off a week-long celebration of our dual milestones. We will present a day of online giving on Thursday, August 1 and and we encourage you to join us as we continue a fantastic journey helping animals by making your gift here. We will also be holding a Puppy Pop-Up fundraising event that day beginning at 1pm. Information and registration info is here.
Thanks, everyone, for your support as we celebrate Dakin Day, and our history!
